The Orton-Gillingham intervention model is a structured, multisensory approach designed to help struggling readers, particularly those with dyslexia, improve their reading, writing, and spelling skills. Developed by Samuel Orton and Anna Gillingham, it combines explicit, systematic teaching of phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension using visual, auditory, and kinesthetic/tactile methods. The model is tailored to meet the individual needs of each learner, offering personalized instruction that progresses at a pace suited to the student’s abilities. The Orton-Gillingham method is often used in one-on-one or small-group settings and is based on the principles of direct, repetitive, and cumulative learning.

Welcome to my site. My name is Colleeen Mulligan. I have been an elementary teacher for over 20 years and currently work as a Basic Skills teacher for grades K-2.
I live in Wall Township with my three kids... Emma, Avary, and Owen. I also can't forget to mention our dog, Leo.

Tutoring
I provide Orton-Gillingham tutoring during after school hours Tuesday - Friday as well as Saturday mornings. In the summer, I will be opening up more days and hours. Tutoring will be held at my office in the Atlantic Office Suites building in Manasquan.

Orton Gillingham Summer Reading Camp
$ 200
/Week - The summer slide is real. Students will lose some skills over the summer months without any practice. Usually, students are reading a level or two lower from the end of the previous year. If you are wondering how you can prevent this from happening with your, the OG child, Summer Reading Camp may be the answer. This summer, I will be hosting a summer reading camp. Group sizes will be five students at the most. Sessions will run twice a week for two hours each session and a snack and game in between. Contact me for more information via email or phone.
